this farmhouse is located on hwy 157 in henry county ky . while driving down 157 with my friend trina 'we came over a hill 'as we topped the hill this house was the first thing we saw as we both looked at each other with excitment . i thought the surrounding empty land all around the house added to the beauty of what you can imagine was once a beautiful farmhouse .+

LOST TREE FARM [56 Images]

when my friend trina came for a visit from out of town' she wanted to see the house on this site 'factory ln farm ' when we got there our entrance was blocked from falling trees from the recent ice storm ' but little did i know we would hit paydirt 5 minutes later . right across the street was another old farm ( factory ln 2 ) but while we were taking pictures of the surroundings i spotted another much bigger farm with lots more buildings off in the distance . we drove around trying to figure out how to get to it when i saw an old dirt road winding its way through the woods ,we took the road through the woods for about a half mile and finally spotted the green roofs of all of the barns and the house ,it was a beautiful plot of land that was obviously at one time a very beautiful and busy operation . a place at one time that was so far out in the middle of nowhere that it would be very hard to find , it is now being surrounded by new expensive houses . in some of the pictures you can see the new neighborhood swallowing up the last of beauty that it once was . as we explored more of the surroundings we found that it was obviously a huge tree farm.. we found ourselves in the remains of what use to be several acres and rows of trees that were sold there , there also were several mechanical type barns where it looked like it was once a home car repair shop . so this place was a pretty big operation . there are some pictures of old stone structures for which i couldnt figure out what they were ' it really is sad when you stand in the back yard of this place and look around and all you see is new million dollar homes surrounding the last plot of untouched land 'that im sure is very close to being destroyed ......

THE HOUSE ON 22 [13 Images]

My introduction and fascination of this house came to be in 1979 'when myself and a friend of mine after walking through fields and farms came up on a 2 lane country road called hwy 22 (or brownsboro rd), we spotted an old abandoned house that sat way off the road and decided to check it out ,we walked down a very long dirt road that was lined with trees and surrounded by acres and acres of fields ,oce we got to the house my friend and i were fascinated by it , it was peaceful , and the surroundings were beautuful , my friend and i found ourselves returning to the old house at least once a week to clean it up a little more each time we returned ,we both had an unspoken connection to this house and we wanted to make it ours and take care of it, Then one day we noticed that someone had ran electricity through out the house and each time that we returned after that someone was cleaning it up and restoring everything, so my friend and i decided not to return because someone had obviously baught the house to fix up and live in ,Through the years i have often thought of going up to the occupents and telling them my story and ask if i could look around, but i never did, the closest i have come to it since then was 1994 when i was working for a sanitation co and went to the house to collect their trash. By this time hwy 22 was no longer a country road ,development was completly taking over and hwy 22 became a 4 lane hwy , i would often wonder what would become of the house that was now being swallowed up by new development , would it be tore down, would they use it for something else , I got my answers in 2007 , I decided to drive out to the house and take some pictures before it was too late, as i drove up i noticed their was construction on the house and all the doors were open ,so i decided to go inside ,there i was greeted by a worker who i told my story to , he informed me that it was being turned into an upscale restraunt as he showed me the floor plans to what this house would soon become, he told me i could walk around and take pictures, After 27 years i was finally back in the house on 22,i was trying to picture what it looked like all those years ago as i walked from room to room, but all i could think of was that the beauty of this house and all the beauty of the natural surroundings are long gone , as i headed for the door i took one last long look at the side porch and thought about me and my friend sweeping all the broken glass off of it all those years ago........... The house will be known as corbetts restraunt when it is complete a very upscale restraunt , One final memory i have of the house is that one day while my friend and i were there we met an old man who seemed to come out of nowhere ,he scared us because we thought he might get mad at us for being there, but instead he was very nice and told us that the house was built in the early 1900s and that zachary taylor lived there ,and it later became oscar ewings dairy farm , Weather these things are true or not i have no idea , These are the latest pictures of the house takin 1-2-07 ,looking at these pictures now its hard to beieve that this house was once out in the middle of nowhere , but it was ,I was there

this house is located in simpsonville ky.on scott station rd . while my girlfriend and i were driving along we spotted this house and thought it would be perfect for this site , as we pulled into the dirt driveway we were greeted by 2 big dogs 'who fortunately for us were friendly and just wanted a tummy rub 'after petting the dogs we made our way around the back of the house 'at that time i saw a man in a jeep down the street pull in his driveway then back out when he saw us on the property , i wish i could remember the mans name ,but i cant . anyway he pulls up in the driveway of the house and asked us if he could help us ,i introduced myself and my girlfriend to him and told him about this website and why we were there . the man was very friendly and helpful and was good enough to give us any information about the house we needed ,he also gave us permission to take pictures of the property and the house inside and out . he told us that there was talk about developing all the land around the property for new homes ( what a shame ) he told us that he has lived in the area for about 3 years and that the house had been vacant for as long as he lived there and that he looked after the property . i would like to thank this man for allowing us to take the pictures and giving us some insight on the future of the house and land around it . i apoligize to this man for not remembering his name 'i do rember it was polish . thank you again for letting us use our pics for this site .........
